A River of Animals

Polly woke up early. She heard a low sound, like thunder. It was the wildebeest. They talk as they walk. The lines of animals were very, very long. This is the great migration.

Polly flew over the herd. She landed on the back of a big wildebeest. She rode it like a boat. The dust made her glasses gold.

The animals eat in order. Zebras eat the tall, hard grass. Wildebeest eat the middle. Gazelles eat the soft new grass at the end. No one fights.

Dark clouds came in the north. Wildebeest can smell rain far away. Rain means grass. The herd walked to the storm. Polly found a tree and slept.
