Balloons at Dawn

On her last morning, Polly woke up in the dark. Big balloons stood on the plain. Fire made them glow like lamps. They rose into the sky. Polly flew with them.

From high up, Polly saw everything. The rocks, the river, and the animals. The herds were still walking.

The animals will walk north. Then the rain will come, and they will walk south again. The circle never stops.

The balloon floated. Everyone was quiet. Polly flew east, into the sun. The Serengeti stayed behind her, still moving.
