A Tiny Cold Lab in Space

On the International Space Station, there is a very special machine. It is about the size of a small refrigerator, but it does big science. Scientists call it the Cold Atom Lab.

This lab makes tiny atoms very, very cold. In space there is almost no gravity, so the cold atoms move in a strange and slow way. The lab can watch them for a longer time than labs on Earth, and that helps scientists a lot.

In June of twenty twenty six, NASA shared news about a new and better part for the lab. With it, scientists hope to learn more about how the world works. Five teams from different countries use the lab together and share what they find.
