The Elephant Mountain

Polly flew in at dawn over a calm blue sea. Ahead, a long mountain rose straight out of the water. From this side it looked like a sleeping elephant. People call it Montgó. Polly has a red head, a green body, and small round glasses.

Below the mountain sat a small white town. It had narrow streets, terracotta roofs, and a quiet fishing port. The town is called Xàbia, and it sits between the mountain and the sea.

Polly landed on the warm rock high on the ridge. The stone was the colour of honey. She looked down at the whole coast.

The sun came up over the water. The light turned the mountain and the town gold. Polly decided to stay for seven days.
