The Narrow Way

In the morning, Polly hopped into the canyon. The air was cool and blue with shadow. Outside, the desert was already hot.

People call this canyon the Siq. In some places it is only three metres wide. When Polly stretched her wings, she could almost touch both walls.

She looked up. Far above, the sky was only a thin blue ribbon between the dark red walls.

Then she saw something strange. A small channel was carved into the rock wall, running along the canyon like a stone ribbon. Long ago it carried water. Polly decided to follow it.
