The Red Lantern

Polly landed on a red lighthouse in Portugal. It was small and round, on top of an old stone fort on a high cliff.

The cliff had sea on two sides. One side had a town and a calm beach with colored boats. The other side had a long empty beach with no houses. The water there was very flat.

An old albatross came with a spyglass. He looked at the sea for a long time. Then he said, this quiet sea can trick you. The giants are coming.

Far away, a storm was pushing the water. Wave after wave. Polly decided to stay seven days and watch.
