Polly aterrizó en un faro rojo en Portugal. Era pequeño y redondo, encima de un viejo fuerte de piedra en un acantilado alto.

El acantilado tenía mar a los dos lados. Un lado tenía un pueblo y una playa tranquila con barcos de colores. El otro lado tenía una playa larga y vacía, sin casas. Allí el agua estaba muy plana.

Un viejo albatros llegó con un catalejo. Miró el mar durante mucho tiempo. Después dijo, este mar tranquilo te puede engañar. Los gigantes vienen.

Muy lejos, una tormenta empujaba el agua. Ola tras ola. Polly decidió quedarse siete días y mirar.
