In the morning the sea was flat like glass. Polly flew low over the water. Her wings almost touched it.

Then the water changed color. Near the sand it was green. Then it was dark, dark blue. It looked like a line in the sea.

Why? Under the water there is a giant canyon. It is the biggest underwater canyon in Europe. It starts near the beach and goes down very, very deep.

The canyon brings the power of far storms to this beach. That evening Polly saw thin lines of waves on the sea. The giants were on their way.
