Keep it on your phone →The cracks in time grew bigger every second. The clock chamber filled with scenes from Prague's past. Medieval merchants talked to Renaissance scholars while Baroque musicians played for future audiences. The noise from different time periods threatened to destroy everything.
"We have to stop it!" Václav shouted. He watched his beloved city break apart across time. "The brass pieces — if we remove them—"
"No!" Polly screeched, dodging a ghost carriage that appeared through the wall. "Look at the charts again. Your grandfather didn't just record the alignment — he found the solution!"
She flew to the glowing astronomical charts. Her sharp eyes read the hidden text under the original calculations. The secret wasn't stopping the gateway from opening. It was controlling it. The Orloj was designed as a temporal anchor to protect Prague's magical history. But without proper calibration, it would collapse all time periods into one catastrophic moment.
"The components need to match today's star positions, not the old ones," Polly realized. "Your grandfather removed them because he knew someone would try to use the original pattern."
Václav understood now. Despite the chaos around them, his hands became steady. Years of clockwork experience took over. He began moving the brass pieces, rotating each one to match the star positions visible through the cracks in reality.
"That's it!" Polly encouraged. Each adjustment made the temporal bleeding slow down. "The clock doesn't open doors to the past — it preserves the past inside the present."
The woman in black appeared at the entrance. Her calm face was gone. "You don't understand! My employers waited decades for this moment!"
"Maybe they did," Václav replied steadily, making the final adjustment. "But my grandfather understood something they don't — some knowledge is hidden because it's dangerous, not valuable."
The last component clicked into place. The chaos stopped. The temporal rifts began closing, leaving behind a gentle golden glow. The Orloj resumed its steady ticking, but now each movement carried echoes of all the history it protected.
"It's beautiful," Polly whispered.
Václav smiled. "The Orloj doesn't give power over time. It reminds us we're all part of time's great story."
