"No!" Polly screeched, dodging a ghost carriage that appeared through the wall. "Look at the charts again. Your grandfather didn't just record the alignment — he found the solution!"

She flew to the glowing astronomical charts. Her sharp eyes read the hidden text under the original calculations. The secret wasn't stopping the gateway from opening. It was controlling it. The Orloj was designed as a temporal anchor to protect Prague's magical history. But without proper calibration, it would collapse all time periods into one catastrophic moment.

Václav understood now. Despite the chaos around them, his hands became steady. Years of clockwork experience took over. He began moving the brass pieces, rotating each one to match the star positions visible through the cracks in reality.

"Maybe they did," Václav replied steadily, making the final adjustment. "But my grandfather understood something they don't — some knowledge is hidden because it's dangerous, not valuable."
