Die Kälte stieg ihre Beine hinauf. Ihr roter Kopf und ihre türkisblauen Flügel sahen sehr hell aus auf dem weißen Eis.
Sie fand eine Höhle unter dem Eis. Die Wände leuchteten tiefblau. Dieses Eis ist sehr alter Schnee. Der Schnee wurde stark zusammengedrückt, bis die Luft weg war. Eis ohne Luft sieht blau aus.
Dann lernte Polly etwas Seltsames. Unter dem Gletscher gibt es Vulkane. Manchmal bricht einer aus und schmilzt das Eis. Dann läuft eine große Flut über das Land. Hier leben Feuer und Eis zusammen.
Am Rand lag ein ruhiger See. Blaue Eisberge trieben zum Meer. Polly setzte sich auf einen und trieb langsam dahin.
