Keep it on your phone โMarta lived by herself in a cozy little apartment. Her new neighbor, Mrs. Pilar, was an elderly lady. They occasionally bumped into each other in the elevator, but they never exchanged words.
One Sunday morning, Marta opened her door to head out for a walk. She noticed a small plate on the floor. On it was a slice of cake, and the cake had a delightful aroma of cinnamon and oranges.
There was a note attached. "This is my grandmother's recipe. I made too much. Welcome to the building. โ Pilar."
Marta enjoyed the cake at her kitchen table. It was the most delicious cake she had tasted in ages. She was unsure how to express her gratitude to Pilar. She wasn't a baker and didn't have any family recipes to share.
Eventually, she wrote a card. "Thank you. The cake was wonderful. If you ever need help with shopping, please knock." She slipped the card under Pilar's door. Now they had a starting point for a friendship.
